This settlement is less impressive when considering that 76,000 plaintiffs have been in litigation for a full decade, bearing the costs of cancer treatment during that time. Each will receive only $36,000, approximately.

In 2020, Johnson & Johnson was ordered to pay $2.1 billion to 22 plaintiffs after a jury found the company's talc-based baby powered caused them to develop ovarian cancer. The Missouri Court of Appeals found "significant reprehensibility" in the company's conduct.

Johnson & Johnson have attempted to dodge accountability for their alleged cancer causing product through three different attempts to declare bankruptcy in the last ten years, and made hundreds of billions of dollars during that time.
