Five years in FUTA taught me something I can’t stop thinking about.

"Every year, students die."

Sometimes we hear, “He died because of carryover,” and that's where the conversation ends.

But what if we looked deeper?

Maybe he wasn’t lazy and maybe 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝘁.

Yes, if you read, you’ll pass.

But how do you read when you’re worried about 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝘀?

Some of us survived those conditions. I’m grateful, but we also need to look out for those who can't.

I keep thinking about a transparent fund focused specifically on helping students with these basic needs.

Maybe @Web3Nigeria could take something like this up.

I don’t have all the answers, but students are struggling and “just read harder” cannot always be the whole answer.
