also i do find it interesting that in fanfic circles third person present tense is extremely common while in most writing circles it's both looked down on and considered more difficult than past tense. i think it's because fanfic writers are sickos (complimentary)

best writing style because it's the pervert's tense. it makes the reader a Watcher versus being in the head of the character or being told the story after the fact. very voyeuristic.

@circussbeetle i have noticed this too and my theory has been that so many people watched gideons run in the show as a kid, when you aren't so primed to break down the nuances of characters, and got very attached to the image gideon projects of himself and now don't want to let go of it
