Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).

A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.

HOW I SUFFERED MIDLIFE CRISIS IN MY MID 40'S|| PASTOR YEMI DAVIES

I had midlife crisis 10 years ago. A lot of people didn't know in church, because you see me laughing and jumping all around. Sermon Times. When I hit 40, 42, I will just be tossing on the bed. I just felt, “This is 42, what have I achieved? Nothing. Look at this, look at that,” you'll be crying. You can't even pray. I don't even know... they call it midlife crisis.

You feel there's nothing you can do. You are already 42. See this person is 32, see what they have achieved. You already passed it, you can't do it anymore. You feel life is already empty. It's the reason why some people commit suicide. Sometimes people don't have any energy left. Sermon Times. Some people, their life just get stuck there. They are still working, but just barely surviving, just barely living. No more ambition, you understand, to do exploits, because somewhere within them, they believe, “I've missed it. I'm 45, I'm 43, I'm not married, I don't have my own car, I don't have this, I don't have that. There's something wrong with me.”

But I had to deal with it. One of the things that I did was to run to God, that I can't continue like this. “If there are gaps in my life, help me to see it.” And He showed me the gaps.

Sometimes a gap is not a sin. It could just be a mindset that you have that is, you know, some mindset kill you. You don't know it's killing you - that why do you think like this? I had to change from that kind of mindset. Sermon Times. And there are some things that I was doing that they said, “This is not the best for you. Turn it around.” And I started getting back on my feet.

Today, I'm grateful. My 50th was better than my 40th. I never knew it was gonna be like that. I'm grateful. Sermon Times. In fact, by the time I was hitting 50, around 48, I started preparing for 50, that, “Oh...” I started studying, checking, and I saw that it's better for you to win a match in the second half than scoring high in the first half and miss second half.

That what even matters most in this life is second half of someone's life. Cause growing up, I've seen people that did so well in the first half — at 40, 33, first billionaire in the family, first trillionaire — and then by the time they are 60, you don't know their name anymore. Everything is grounded.
