It tears me up knowing so many babies are born with syphilis
BCCDC waited 18 months to test & treat my neurosyphilis my symptoms will never go away
I will be in front of the BCCDC tomorrow with this sign
I am nervous so wish me luck
@ubcpathology@CDCofBC Absolutely agree it is complex.Dr Morshed could start by explaining how neurosyphilis cases in 2021 tripled. And if you need evidence I am the evidence
@BCMedicalJrnl@CDCofBC There are many things that @CDCofBC to help curb the infection rate in BC. ALIGNING syphilis case definitions with @GovCanHealth. The #BCCDC waited 18 months to give me the penicillin needed for neurosyphilis, now they ignore me.
@SChandraHerbert @vandadnextdoor He was a pioneer in our community. I hope his life inspires others .So much of his legacy is in our community. Vancouver needs to designate a space to remind/educate about who he was andhiswork. We are fortunate to have you on our side @SChandraHerbert
@SeedyVancouver@KenSimCity@VancouverPD@PeterMeiszner@VIAwesome I spent time on the street 2 decades ago. Things were so much different I would have busted out in tears if someone would have offered a bed back then. I made my money packing supplies for sun bathers at Wreck Beach. Thing are much scarier nowadays.
@CDCofBC Note that in 2021 (3 months after diagnosis) in BC the case count for neurosyphilis. This (link) guide was updated a few days after my lumbar puncture. https://t.co/Dpwfqq4MyP
Please share this if you can, I am happy to answer any appropriate questions as quickly as I can. I am a full supporter of the hard workers of the medical system. My story is with the higher uppers of the @CDCofBC
I have been quiet while I have suffered many neurological changes. Tomorrow I plan to share my story and how the @CDCofBC waited 18 months to treat me for neurosyphilis. I am nervous but I hope to encourage testing and I hope you can share my story.
Let's talk neurosyphilis for a second. 2020 there were 6 cases in 2021 there were 18 cases of neurosyphilis. testing and treatment should prevent this. So why under the care of the @CDCofBC did I need treatment for neurosyphilis. Why did they wait 18 months to treat my symptoms.
Syphilis rates are on the rise in BC. ๐
