Reminder:The eastbound on-ramp to Interstate 40 from 540 is closed today for road work. This will heavily increase traffic in the area of the cloverleaf in Van Buren. Please take an alternate route if possible. Drivers wanting I-40 eastbound must detour through Alma on HWY 64.
Van Buren faces Alma in the Battle of the Bone next weekend. Chief Jamie Hammond with Van Buren Police Department & Chief Pointer with Alma Police Department have placed their bets. Whichever team loses, that Chief will buy donuts for the entire winning team!
We were contacted about rumors of an incident at the Van Buren High School this morning. The police activity on Pointer Trail this morning was the result of a traffic stop in which occupants of the vehicle were arrested. There was no incident involving Van Buren High School.
This turtle was found jay walking at the intersection of 15th and Main! It was briefly detained by Cpl. Jensen, who rescued it and then released it at the Arkansas River.
Due to a water main break, Hwy 59 at Logtown Hill is closed from Poplar Street to Mckibben. It will be closed until mid day Saturday. You will be detoured around the cemetery until it re-opens. Please choose another route if possible.
