This graphic helps me wrap my head around the magnitude of the problem. Notice the amount of current biomass for wild mammals (in green) versus that for livestock and humans. No wonder we have converging crises of biodiversity, fresh water, and climate. https://t.co/bca7h18Sbp
The number of observations submitted to the #CitizenScience platform @inaturalist is outpacing the rate at which the organisms can be identified. @callaghanct@thomasmesaglio &co call for more experts to identify organisms on iNaturalist #PLOSBiology

Wrote an experimental script this weekend to create a curated list of species from iNat observations, as determined by experts and not rely on "research grade". Goal is to create a more accurate species list for a region. Thanks to Greg Pohl for idea.

@gilmore_scott Yeah it's a fair workaround. Ideally iNat would support group-managed lists, rather than just personal ones. That would do the same thing: allow a group of experts to create a curated list of agreed upon IDs, rather than rely on the community as a whole. Neat problem!
In case Twitter implodes over the next few days (and it may - a lot fewer peeps to keep the lights on!) I've set up an account over on Mastodon. How bad could it be. https://t.co/LNtS5VejEl
Merged at last :D https://t.co/r2dhAZNwsz
Not sure about their rollout process (there will have to be translations made), but expect to see this feature on iNat sometime in the near future!
Cool, getting some stirrings of interest from iNat on a little hack I did to expand the functionality of the bounding box searches. With a bit of luck we'll get this in... https://t.co/pwHnrA3YPW
