Pity she does not realize what @Rabia_Khokhar1 is doing is good teaching, inclusive & supporting all learners. All educators please check @Rabia_Khokhar1 feed & follow her if you are not. She is an amazing educator.
Congratulations Ms. Bunsie on being the recipient of an HDSB Inspire Award for your work as a champion of Indigenous Education and affirming all student identities!
@realJ_Mitchell Congratulations to the graduating class and their teacher!!! You have done amazing things at Aldershot. You will be incredible in your new role!!!
👇🏽 resonates on so many levels - the struggle is real - as a racialized educator when do you speak up, where is it appropriate & what will the fall out be??? Are you labeled a troublemaker or changemaker? -waiting for everyone else’s readiness feels unsafe & stifling
“Equality means more than passing laws. The struggle is really won in the hearts and minds of the community, where it really counts.” – Barbara Gittings
The Progressive Pride flag is up @EthelGardinerPS for the month of June. Hate has no home here.
“Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them. Is this job tough? You betcha. But it is not impossible. We’re educators. We’re born to make a difference.” https://t.co/2SzmARLRHV
It may sound fluffy or cliche but if we are truly working toward equity, we must visualize and believe in a future of possibility. This work isn’t about fixing deficits. Its about honoring, rectifying, and ultimately, cultivating the unique gifts and talents that we all possess.
@realJ_Mitchell I'm always so inspired by you and your students. Yesterday, @LLB_315 - keynote speaker on the @FNMIEAO conference spoke to the verb based nature of Indigenous languages, and spoke to 'verbing math' - making it action based. I thought of your work!
