Congratulations to Hector, a nurse at the Malcom Randall VAMC for being selected as the May 2026 DAISY Award Winner.
Hector was nominated by a Veteran that he cared for. The Veteran stated that Hector stands out far above others for his exceptional care. "What sets Hector apart is that he is a man of action, he takes care of business in a way that is both efficient and deeply healing. His presence brings confidence and comfort during a vulnerable time. The quality of care he provides has made a meaningful difference in my experience."
Congratulations Hector thank you for serving Veterans with honor, each and every day.
Our relationship with technology affects our Whole Health more than we may realize. Constant notifications and screen time can impact sleep, increase stress, and make it harder to stay present.
Reset for a more intentional you by building mindful habits, like setting boundaries with devices or practicing meditation.

At the Lake City VAMC, Chaplain Richardson, Chaplain Prentiss, and the MICU staff came together to honor Mr. William Cumming, a 102-year-old World War II Veteran. In recognition of both his service and his remarkable age, he was presented with a Navy hat, a handmade quilt, and special tokens of appreciation. Surrounded by gratitude and care, Mr. Cumming and his wife were deeply touched by the tribute, a meaningful reminder of the legacy and sacrifice of Veterans. 🇺🇸💓
