@Jimfrombaseball Moe Drabowsky was sent to Arecibo, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 to pitch for 1961-62 Arecibo Wolves. His catcher: Bob Uecker. Milwaukee Braves had working agreement with Arecibo thanks to Wolves mgr Luis Olmo. Drabowsky injured his throwing arm climbing trees 🌳with AreciboPeace Corps workers.

@FarroYossi Red coached 1964-66 Ponce Lions🦁 to 3️⃣straight Puerto Rico🇵🇷Superior 🏀 League titles. That is a competitive summer league. Many NBA coaches plied their trade in 🇵🇷 from Tex Winter (1952) to Phil Jackson (late 1980s), plus Paul Westhead, Del Harris, Lou Rossini, among others.
@baseballhall As a 🔟 year old living in Santurce Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, 👀 Brunet pitch for the 1964-65 Santurce 🦀. Incredible that3️⃣ of 🦀5️⃣ starters, Brunet, Ruben Gomez, and Juan “Terin” Pizarro, ALL won over 400 pro baseball games apiece! Manley Johnston and Fred Talbot were the other starters.

@Jimfrombaseball Felipe managed 1️⃣ Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 Winter League season with 1985-86 Caguas Criollos. Roberto Alomar was a 17-year old rookie second baseman. Won 1️⃣ Caribbean Series as a manager for the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴.
@maxeffgen Very sad news. As 12 year old living in Puerto Rico🇵🇷,saw Hughes pitch superbly (11-2 W-L) for 45-26 Santurce🦀,my favorite team, 1966-67. Orlando Cepeda “invited” him to pitch for Santurce. I wrote Hughes’ SABR bio-met him at an Arkansas SABR Chapter meeting. Rest in peace, sir.

@EchoesofWarYT My Fall 1996 feature article on Galvez was published in Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Magazine. I heard of Galvez growing🆙in San Juan🇵🇷. Galvez had soldiers from Venezuela🇻🇪Puerto Rico🇵🇷Cuba🇨🇺 Hispaniola. Thanks for pointing out key role of 🇨🇺. Galvez reported to Havana.
@maxeffgen@Yankees I wrote Art’s SABR bio. He played in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 Nicaragua 🇳🇮 and a postseason series (February 1965) in Venezuela 🇻🇪. His Cinco Estrellas 🇳🇮 team won the 1964 InterAmerican Series in Managua.
