I’m not jumping to conclusions, but let me say this. Fans and media be quick to label a player “injury prone” We don’t choose to get hurt… sometimes shit just happens. Y’all don’t see the rehab, the pain, the mental drain it causes. That process can make you lose yourself. This shit is real. No matter how much support you get, you still gotta fight that battle alone.
Prayers up for Rondale Moore and his family. He was a baller, no question.
News surfacing that Rondale Moore seems to have taken his own life today.
It may not have been much of a factor at all, or maybe a little, but it makes me ponder about how we can be a bunch of assholes on this site due to a silly game called fantasy football.
Someone gets injured and the posts begin about how said player is useless, no longer an asset, etc.. (us injury analysts often do it too, I’ve had my fair share of comments like that).
It’s so important to remember that that player is a human being who may have just lost part of their identity in their ability to play the game that they love, or even facing the possibility of losing their means to support their families.
You never know what people are going through, and you never know the impact of your words, especially as we hear more stories about athletes struggling mentally with what they’re seeing from fanbases on social media.
Maybe that had nothing to do with it at all, but just an added detail to think about in a tragic time like this.
It can probably be applied to all stages of life. Check in on your family and friends. Never know what they’re going through.
Prayers up for Rondale’s family
