After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a number of years ago and developing bedsores, had the muscles in his entire gluteal area erroneously removed during bedsore surgery at the public government hospital in Johannesburg that was treating him https://t.co/xnubSdmBJM
How magical and beautiful is this? Near Montacute in Somerset, travelling along this hollow way. This has been formed over centuries by people and livestock, together with the erosion from water. England has some truly gorgeous places.
Consider these words from 1920, written by French author Hilaire Belloc:
“The modern world imagines that it has outgrown religion. It has done nothing of the kind. It has merely forgotten it. And because it has forgotten it, it no longer understands itself. Men do not realize that the whole framework of their moral judgments, their political habits, and even their intellectual methods were formed within a Christian society and cannot exist long outside it. When that framework breaks, they will not find themselves enlightened, but bewildered; not free, but enslaved; not rational, but confused.”
Women used to be 30 years old married with 3 children and a husband living in a house they owned, with a high enough standard of living that she didn’t even need to work and could stay home.
Now 30 year old women have slept with 30 guys, have no children, are not married, live in an apartment and have to go to work full time just to survive.
This isn’t progress, this is societal decline and a dramatically lower quality of life being sold to women as their liberation when in reality it is their enslavement.
In the Greek Orthodox tradition, fathers have traditionally been honored on the Feast of Saint Joseph, the earthly guardian and foster father of Jesus Christ.
Unlike the modern Father’s Day that originated in the United States, the Orthodox Church does not have an ancient, universal feast specifically called “Father’s Day.”
However, Orthodox Christians often look to Saint Joseph as the model of fatherhood because he demonstrated:
Humility
Obedience to God
Protection of his family
Hard work and sacrifice
Quiet strength
In countries with strong Orthodox traditions, such as Greece, Father’s Day today is generally celebrated on the third Sunday of June, just as it is in Canada and the United States, while the spiritual ideal of fatherhood remains closely associated with Saint Joseph and the example of God the Father.
Many Greek Orthodox priests also remind the faithful that fatherhood is not merely biological but a sacred vocation of love, guidance, sacrifice, and philotimo (φιλότιμο) living honorably and selflessly for one’s family.
A beautiful Orthodox understanding is that a father should reflect God’s love through:
Strength without harshness, authority without pride, and love without conditions.
Χρόνια Πολλά σε όλους τους πατέρες
Many blessings to all fathers. ☦️🇬🇷
Χρόνια Πολλά to all fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, and spiritual fathers.
A beautiful Greek Orthodox saying is:
«Ο πατέρας δεν είναι μόνο αυτός που δίνει ζωή, αλλά αυτός που διδάσκει πώς να τη ζεις.»
“A father is not only the one who gives life, but the one who teaches how to live it.”
May Saint Joseph and all the righteous fathers of the Church intercede for families everywhere.
Καλή Κυριακή και ο Θεός μαζί σου. 🇬🇷☦️
A historic moment: the main tower of the Sagrada Família has finally been completed
The day before, it was consecrated by Pope Leo XIV, marking the 100th anniversary of the death of the great architect Antoni Gaudí.
The 172.5-meter Tower of Jesus Christ has become the tallest part of the church, and the Sagrada Família is now considered the tallest Christian structure in the world.
Construction of the basilica began in 1882. Gaudí died in 1926 without ever seeing his main masterpiece completed.
However, this is still not the final stage: interior work and the main entrance still remain. So the world’s most famous long-term construction project is officially not finished yet.
