🚨 New #MetaMaster Publication Alert 🚨
A systematic review of 14 studies (n=121 patients) assessed the efficacy of TIPS for treating hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS).
Key findings:
🫁 SpO₂ & PaO₂ improved in 1st month
📉 Effects not sustained beyond 3 months
🧠 HE developed in 22.4% of patients
Conclusion: TIPS offers transient benefit in HPS but lacks long-term efficacy.
This work was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Tulio L. Correa, highlighting the value of expert-driven research through Dr. Alice Gallo de Moraes.

Had so much fun writing this one with @GallodeMoraesMD 🫁
TIPS appears to provide a transient improvement in the oxygenation parameters of patients with HPS
These effects are usually not sustained long-term (> 3 months) ‼️

Is there an association between ABO blood groups and pancreatic cancer? 🩸
Yes ✔️
👉🏼 Patients with blood type O exhibited better overall survival and were less frequently diagnosed with advanced cancer stages (III-IV) upon presentation

Thrilled to share that our meta-analysis has been accepted for publication in Digestive Diseases and Sciences! 🎉
Thank you to all the authors for their support. I’ll share more details once it becomes publicly available! #MedX#endoscopy#gastroenterology
@laura_tee_mdgi @RainbowinGastro@AmCollegeGastro@JVG_GIMD@BIDMC_GI We conducted a meta-regression on all published RCTs, and longer PPI therapy doesn’t appear to correlate with ⬇️ serum calcium levels. This challenges the mechanistic plausibility of PPIs having a harmful impact on 🦴 density
Presenting our work on #PancreaticCancer at #AACRpan24!
Grateful for the support and grant from @AACR MICR @NCICCHE, and a huge thank you to Dr. @BrunoBockorny for your guidance throughout this project!
Does the addition of endoscopic sphincterotomy to BS reduce the risk for PEP?
In our new systematic review and meta-analysis published at @GIE_Journal, we found no significant difference between the ES and non-ES groups. However, bleeding rates were higher when ES was performed.
Excited to embark on a new journey as an Expert in Meta-Analysis Academy, where I'll be leading a research group focusing on Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Endoscopy. Let's push boundaries and make meaningful strides together!
