EWA FARYASZEWSKA (1922-1944) - corporal in Polish Home Army, Fine Arts Academy student; shot 31 unique Agfacolor photos during the Warsaw Uprising. Died on 28 August 1944 of wounds sustained while rescuing works of art in the Old Town in Warsaw. #OTD#WW2 https://t.co/yNxkofBF8n
The "W" Hour was when the #WarsawUprising started.
1 August 1944, 5. p.m. Every 1 August, Poland honours the Uprising participants at 5 p.m. For one minute, people stop what they're doing and stand at attention. That's what is going to happen today. You're welcome to join us.
Educators should rather meet in Germany at such conferences. Poland never let the horrors of the Holocaust happen as the world, including Allies, let the Polish state cease to exist as the result of joint German and Soviet aggression. 😟

Press conference by attorney Monika Brzozowska Pasieka and attorney Jerzy Pasieka on the case of Filomena Leszczyńska's civil lawsuit against Jan Grabowski @jgrabows & Barbara Engelking. New facts and historical sources presented. @uOttawa@yivoinstitute

@jgrabows "In a normal world this case would have been dismissed long ago," Mr. Grabowski told the @nytimes. "But Poland can no longer be considered a normal democracy."
Is Germany considered a normal democracy? A German court fined a history professor 2 months ago. https://t.co/Tk5nkh4XNQ
"Is it possible that the man who saved her was also an accessory to the murder of other Jews? Anyone sufficiently familiar with accounts from the Holocaust knows that anything is possible."
Don't you try to manipulate facts, @oferaderet.
Engelking acknowledged her error in court.
🟥 #OTD in 1940 🗓, the Soviets organised the first deportation of Polish citizens deep in the USSR which affected about 140,000 people. In 1940-1941, the Soviets organised four major deportations campaign of Polish citizens deep in the USSR.
Both chief rabbi of Poland and author @oferaderet pretend to ignore facts. The police investigation is a routine one following a report. They interrogated Markusz & will dismiss the case. This has nothing to do with Poland's 2018 anti-defamation law but art. 133 of the Penal Code.
.@NBCNewsWorld relied on @Reuters, and they in turn relied on @AP, and @AP relies on one single reporter @VanessaGera covering Poland. If she doesn't write Grabowski & Engelking acknowledged their error in court, no MSM outlet will do this either. This is a really vicious circle.
On this Day - 1940, Soviet authorities carried out the first large-scale deportation from occupied eastern #Poland, targeting mainly state officials, military personnel and their families. Some 150,000 people were deported to #Siberia, Kazakhstan and elsewhere. #OTD
"President of @WorldJewishCong, Ronald S. Lauder @AmbLauder expressed his dismay following the announcement of a verdict in a Polish libel case against" 1 historian & 1 sociologist, after they admitted their mistake, which resulted in slandering a Righteous Among the Nations man.
The #ŁadośGroup passport campaign could have reached as many as 10,000 people. The #ŁadośList is the first attempt to create a list of the people for whom these documents were created. Some of them survived the war, some perished in the Holocaust, many whose fates remain unknown.
The Polish Parliament declared 2021 the year of the #ŁadośGroup, “to honor the effectiveness and the sacrifice of the Polish diplomats and their Jewish and Polish associates who saved Jews from the Holocaust during World War II”, as is stated in the resolution. #passportsforlife
One of the first Polish WW2 underground resistance organisation was PLAN. Kazimierz Kott headed its combat department. On 17 Jan. 1940, he managed to escape from the Gestapo HQ in #OccupiedWarsaw where he was interrogated. He fled to Lwów where he was captured by NKVD and killed.
"A database containing over a million archival documents is being launched along with an international online conference held by the Pilecki Institute, a major Polish research centre." Great news @thenews_PL@InstPileckiego!
