Last week, when it was announced that @GovKathyHochul is rejecting $10 BILLION in federal aid to secure our border, I mentioned that Buffalo, NY, is a MAJOR human trafficking hub.

Western New York's location makes it a key transit corridor for traffickers, with easy access to Toronto, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, the Finger Lakes, and New York City.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office once had a dedicated Human Trafficking Division. I'm digging to see whether that division still exists and whether Governor Kathy Hochul's recent ICE cooperation policies have affected its operations.

In 2019, Erie County Sheriff's Detective Theresa Nietzel was recognized as the Human Trafficking Task Force Officer of the Year by Homeland Security Investigations for helping dismantle a major trafficking operation.

An AMAZING accomplishment, but also a sobering reminder that Governor Hochul is putting politics and her reelection ahead of our safety.
