“There is virtually no anti-Polish sentiment in Ukraine — and I visit the country often,” Professor Timothy Snyder recently assured readers in an interview with the media outlet Nowa Polska.

I beg to differ.

The cult of the OUN and UPA, actively nurtured and promoted by the Ukrainian state, is not merely anti-Russian; it is also fundamentally anti-Polish.

First, it justifies the mass murder of Polish civilians during the Second World War — children, women and men slaughtered in the name of building an independent, ethnically homogeneous Ukrainian state.

Second, it mocks the memory of those victims by creating endless obstacles to exhumations and by manipulating public understanding of historical events.

Third, it denies the responsibility of contemporary Ukraine for the crimes committed by the OUN and UPA, despite the fact that the Ukrainian state has chosen to elevate their leaders to the status of national heroes.

The cult of the OUN and UPA has deeply penetrated the military culture of Ukraine’s armed forces. Several units — including the Third Assault Brigade, Azov, Karpatska Sich, and the 67th Brigade — make use of the Decalogue of the Ukrainian Nationalist and the Prayer of the Ukrainian Nationalist. They openly glorify figures such as Bandera, Shukhevych, and Konovalets, all of whom were associated with anti-Polish violence.

The Azov movement, moreover, openly promotes the concept of a “Greater Ukraine,” envisioning the reclamation of Ukrainian “historical lands” that today belong to Poland.

For this reason, those who continue to claim that anti-Polish sentiment is absent in Ukraine are lulling Poles into a false sense of security.

They are perpetuating comforting myths while ignoring ideological currents that, if left unexamined, could one day pose a serious security threat to Poland.

A sober assessment of these realities is not an act of hostility toward Ukraine. It is a precondition for an honest conversation about history, memory, and the future of Polish-Ukrainian relations.

Forced conscription is increasingly being used as a tool to target "unwanted" clergy in Ukraine.

Draft officers seized Father Bohdan Katsevych, rector of the Transfiguration Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Osmyhovychi.

The incident took place in Volodymyr as the priest was returning from a hospital visit with his pregnant wife.

Father Katsevych suffered a heart attack while in the custody of the draft office. Yet he was denied hospitalization.

The Metropolitan of Vostra believes that the Ukrainian authorities are carrying out actions in the Lavra comparable to the persecution of Christians during the Soviet era.

In an exclusive comment to the UOJ, Metropolitan Timotheos of Vostra, Exarch of the Jerusalem Patriarchate in Cyprus, stated that the manipulations by staff of the Lavra Reserve involving the relics of the Venerable Fathers of the Caves constitute an act of sacrilege, comparable to the crimes committed by the godless Bolshevik regime.

"With deep sorrow and indignation, I have received news of the latest actions by the Ukrainian authorities against our Orthodox faith. Government officials no longer limit themselves to the seizure of holy churches, obstruction of worship services, and intimidation of the clergy and faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. They are now committing horrifying acts against the piety of all Orthodox Christians through desecration of holy relics. This is an insult to the memory and honor of the saints—God’s righteous ones—whom we venerate and to whom we offer prayers for their intercession," said the hierarch, emphasizing that such actions are a grievous blow to the spiritual conscience of every pious person.

According to him, the manipulations by museum staff with the relics of the Venerable Fathers of the Caves are "sacrilege and the utmost blasphemy, which once again brings to mind the sufferings and persecutions of the Church during the dark period of the godless Soviet regime."

"Tragically, such events are now being repeated by state institutions of a so-called democratic country under the pretext of so-called 'cultural management' of sacred sites," he stressed.

The Metropolitan is convinced that such actions can only be described as desecration of holy things and a mockery of the sacred foundations of the faith. “They also represent a flagrant violation of freedom of worship, infringing on the right of religious expression of the overwhelming majority of Orthodox believers in Ukraine. These impious and godless actions by representatives of the state are unequivocally condemned by the Church and cause suffering to the Body of Christ,” said the Jerusalem hierarch.

"With fervent prayer to the Lord for their enlightenment, I appeal to the international community, to responsible human rights organizations, and to every person of goodwill, calling for intervention to put an end to this ongoing sacrilege and shame," the Metropolitan declared, stressing that peace among nations can be founded only on principles of mutual respect for freedom of conscience, religious traditions, truth, and justice.

Британское правительство тайно платит YouTube-звездам за публикацию государственной пропаганды

Об этом сообщается в публикации издания Declassified UK. Расследование, длившееся три года, выявило, что инфлюенсеры подписывают юридические контракты с обязательствами о неразглашении, запрещающими им раскрывать причастность британского правительства к их работе.

Сотрудничество координируется лондонским медиаагентством Zinc Network от имени Министерства иностранных дел Великобритании в рамках контракта стоимостью около 10 миллионов фунтов стерлингов. Компания занимается подбором инфлюенсеров, в основном в странах Центральной и Восточной Европы, а также в Балтии, для создания видеоконтента.

Согласно документам, полученным Declassified UK, инфлюенсеры подписывают соглашения о неразглашении до того, как им сообщают о причастности британского правительства. Представители МИД предоставляют обратную связь по каждому видео перед его публикацией, чтобы обеспечить соответствие контента целям проекта.

В частности, в 2023 году агенство провело кампанию, направленная на мобилизацию молодых избирателей в Словакии, чтобы помешать партии Smer под руководством Роберта Фицо одержать победу на выборах. В конечном счете она не достигла своей цели.

Правила британского Агентства по стандартам рекламы (ASA) требуют, чтобы оплаченный контент был четко обозначен как реклама, а личность заказчика не скрывалась. Тем не менее, в видеороликах, созданных в рамках программы Zinc Network, такие указания отсутствовали, что противоречит установленным нормам. YouTube также обязывает отмечать контент, финансируемый государством, но в данном случае это требование не выполнялось.
