HOW TO PRAY THE JANAZAH (FUNERAL) PRAYER 🕌

The Janazah prayer is simple, but it carries immense reward. Here is how to perform it:

1️⃣ First Takbir
Say “Allahu Akbar”, then recite Surah Al-Fatihah.

2️⃣ Second Takbir
Say “Allahu Akbar”, then send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, preferably by reciting Salat al-Ibrahimiyyah.

3️⃣ Third Takbir
Say “Allahu Akbar”, then sincerely make du‘a for the deceased.

For example:

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَعَافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ

“O Allah, forgive him, have mercy upon him, grant him well-being, and pardon him.”

4️⃣ Fourth Takbir
Say “Allahu Akbar”, then make a general du‘a for the deceased, all deceased Muslims, and the living.

Finally, end the prayer with Tasleem.

📌 Important:
• There is no ruku‘ or sujood in the Janazah prayer.
• The entire prayer is performed standing, if one is able.
• The Imam stands near the head of a deceased man and around the middle of a deceased woman, according to the well-known Sunnah.
• The Janazah prayer is an act of intercession for the deceased, so make sincere du‘a for them.

The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever attends a funeral and prays over the deceased receives one qirat of reward, and whoever remains until the burial receives two qirats. The two qirats are like two great mountains. (Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)

May Allah forgive our deceased, have mercy upon them, and grant them Jannatul-Firdaws. And may He forgive us and grant us a good ending. Ameen. 🤲🏾

It is unreasonable, laughable and senseless to claim that Hon. Haruna Iddrisu harbours a secret agenda to “Islamize” Ghana or make life unbearable for Christians.

Such allegations attack more than one person; they undermine our national unity. Ghana’s strength lies in peaceful coexistence, interfaith marriages and a shared commitment to development over division. We must collectively reject these unfounded fears and focus on national development. Let us not trade our hard-won peace for baseless conspiracy.

History of Arabic Studies in Ghana.

Firstly, Arabic is a language and not a religion. We have Christian Arabs just as we have Muslim and Christian Portuguese. Studying Arabic does not mean studying Islam.

1. Post-Independence (1961): Dr. Kwame Nkrumah established the Ghana Institute of Languages, which began teaching Arabic at the tertiary level to enhance international trade and Pan-Africanism.

2. In the 1970s and 1980s, reforms were implemented whereby the Ghana Education Service (GES) began a localized experiment in Northern Ghana to fuse secular subjects into Arabic-English schools. By 1987, formal examinations and standardization were introduced to certify community Arabic instructors under the GES framework.

3. In 2018, following national policy updates, Arabic was introduced as an elective and examinable subject for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

I was convinced that X is a platform for sane and intelligent individuals to make sound and meaningful arguments, but lately I’ve decided to abandon that fallacy.

Now tell me what the Education Minister has got to do with Arabic studies in our educational system. Funny how this same clown will say he’s not an extremist.
