After product development and validation, one of the biggest challenges healthcare startups face is achieving real market adoption.
Establishing presence within hospitals, navigating procurement systems, building clinical trust, generating clinical prescriptions, and scaling commercially can often be more difficult than developing the innovation itself.
The Product Promotion Program is designed to address this challenge by connecting innovators with the right stakeholders, enabling clinical adoption, and helping innovators reach the right markets.

BFI signed a historic MOU with IIT Bombay under Bharat Innovates Program at NICE France. Partnership was announced by Hon. Commerce Minister Shri Piyush Goyal and Principal Scientific Advisor to PMO Dr Ajay Sood. The event was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron.
BFI along with IIT Bombay will work to support biomedical startups from ideation to market access in collaboration with European ecosystem of Universities, hospitals and Investors.
From weekly mentoring sessions to now engaging directly with the European innovation ecosystem, BFI VK Connect has officially entered its immersion phase in Barcelona.
Over the past few months, the programme has supported some of India’s most promising healthcare startups through expert sessions, mentorship, market validation and internationalisation strategy development.
Now, the selected startups are on ground in Europe, connecting with mentors, healthcare stakeholders, innovation hubs and industry experts to better understand the European healthcare market and explore pathways for global expansion.
This immersion phase is about creating meaningful exposure and helping Indian healthcare innovators build the networks, insights and market understanding needed to scale beyond borders.
Panelists Dr. Purnima Sharma, Premnath Venugopalan, Satya Prakash Dash, Namita Gupta, and Pooja Agrawal discussed bridging lab to market and technology transfer pathways for biomedical innovation in the AI era.
The panel explored how biomedical innovations move from research labs to real world impact and highlighted that successful technology transfer depends on scalability, market readiness, and clear healthcare need. Speakers noted that what works in the lab is often difficult to implement in the market, and companies invest only when technologies show strong potential for viable products and market growth.
The discussion emphasized addressing funding and structural challenges, focusing on market problems, and building scalable solutions to ensure biomedical innovations translate into meaningful healthcare outcomes.
