Liz Truss implemented the GOP's whole economic plan and collapsed her economy within a month. I feel like this should be a bigger deal in the Midterms...
Really wonderful thread: “on why the Forest Service kept chasing little old Karuk ladies through the woods & arresting them for arson” and also fire, food and gender 🔥❤️
.@PGE4Me outage map shows 5,000+ customers without power in #SanFrancisco; including Ingleside, Merced Heights and SFSU area. Estimated time of restoration: 11:15 p.m.
Things women did to avoid dealing with Lord Byron:
1) invent sci-fi
2) invent computers
Imagine what humanity could have achieved through the power of Byron's insufferability if he'd lived longer.
@MatthewSitman@Biedersam And they too will reply, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?' Then the Son of Man will say, 'Really? Come on guys, how much more fucking obvious could I have been?'
This is an amazing thread. It’s like a consanguinity chart for animals. Sponges are like our 4th cousin 16 times removed*

A hierarchy of alienness: Pictures of animals from least to most related to you.
Least-related animal: Sponges. You and sponges are both animals. That's basically all you've got in common.
what the right is trying to do, from top to bottom, is dismantle public goods and public obligations and the institutions that support them, leaving owners of wealth and capital and privilege to dominate others as they see fit
It was a scary, lonely, miserable night. Luckily, baby girl was discharged the next day. Unluckily, I had to return a few days later: retained products of conception, massive blood loss, postpartum preeclampsia.
YES. I was discharged after two days but stayed overnight as a boarder because my baby had to stay under the bili-lights. But my husband had to go home. When I passed a large clot, I had to call my OB from the hospital bed. I wasn’t officially a patient. So they couldn’t treat me
It’s also lamentable the standard US care is 2 days hospital stay after vaginal delivery and 3 days after a C-section. In Japan, 5 to 7 days is normal. Heck, in the US, 4 to 5 days used to be normal. An extra night saved my life.
Judith Plaskow suggested in "Standing Again at Sinai" that we need to think again about our God-language. She wrote, "Only deliberately disruptive - that is, female - metaphors can break the imaginative hold of male metaphors that have been used for millennia." 26/
