@AnimatedWomen29 Personally I’ve always liked him and thought he was written fine, he’s a good stabilising element in the cast, his reasons for being with Cerberus seem compelling, he’s earnest but he isn’t naive about what’s going on, he’s critical without being a dissenting cynic. Cool guy idk

@AnimatedWomen29 The “hate” he gets always seemed like a forced meme to me, he doesn’t really have the same level of intrigue as the other crew members though so it’s understandable why he isn’t anyone’s favourite. That’s the point though, he’s a straight-arrow-get-the-job-done guy like Shepard

@Pieces_of_Bits @alfredjviii its very obvious that the story is to be read classically, as thematic, everything from the music to the visuals informs this, even so it generously provides plenty of subtext and characterisation to aid this, much of which you choose to simply ignore, because you don’t like it

@Pieces_of_Bits @alfredjviii Romeo + Juliet agree to marry each other the same night they meet, the movies give you FAR more to work with, they spend a great deal of time together and in spite of your bizarre claim they do actually have numerous scenes in which there is evidently mutual attraction/chemistry

@Pieces_of_Bits @alfredjviii The cohesive narrative and its subtext doesn’t collapse just because you didn’t like how a character was portrayed. Rather than just saying “I didn’t fuck with it” you make haphazard disingenuous criticism about how “it can’t work”. It can and does work!

@Pieces_of_Bits @alfredjviii @Dickyvontastic the mistake is putting on her on a pedestal and pretending like she doesn't ALSO possess this darker attraction to him, women are attracted to power, he is extraordinarily powerful, I feel like we all understood this dynamic even as children, what is so ridiculous about it?

@Pieces_of_Bits @alfredjviii @Dickyvontastic she isn't some omniscient perfectly rational and moral Angel, she's a compassionate human being grappling with both aspects of him, her love for the Boy (his light aspect) becomes mixed with her new attraction for the Man (shadow aspect if you like)
