Service has been restored, though data delivery is being throttled somewhat to keep it from crashing again. The throttling appears to be working, and the map is very minimally affected. Enjoy!
Vattatsic was seeing unprecedented numbers before it crashed during CTP with over 2700 clients on VATSIM + over 1000 users on Vattastic. We are working to restore service.
@Kilonum It's almost certainly a browser plugin that's causing it. Try disabling them one by one until you find the culprit. We saw this at #FSExpo one someone's machine.
#FSExpo was a blast! Great to put faces with names. A big shoutout and thanks to the folks at @vzmaartcc for helping out with the booth. I am already preparing for next year!
@Whylessafety I agree. Head over to Vattastic and read the development blog. The disk failure actually led me to the reason for the instability. Will have that corrected soon.
@JetSimFlight Yes, but I would need a minimum of an M4-xlarge instance which alone will cost almost double what I pay for monthly colocation services. And that doesn't begin to account for other AWS charges, such as the 2TB worth of bandwidth Vattastic uses per month.
Update on the outage: Good news and bad news: The good news is that all of the files related to Vattastic and related websites are intact. The bad news is that I've spent 12 hours here at the datacenter and I'm frozen & exhausted. I'll give it another go tomorrow after work.
In case you're wondering, the Vattastic server has suffered a major disk failure. We are working to get it temporarily back up and running on the 3 remaining disks. Will post more info as it is available.
Come and see Vattastic at FlightSimExpo 2018 at the Flamingo Las Vegas! We will be hanging out with friends and partners @vzmaartcc, @vatsimusa, @VATSTAR_ATO, and others!
