I replied the following to someone the other day when they said Scotland cities were run down and had nothing going for them

"Ask yourself, if we hadn't had 300 years of union, what would Scotland look like?

I'm going to state the population would be larger for a start, that we would have gone through industrialisation like all the other countries on this island, we would have had more people to build and construct, due to people not being cleared from the land and raising families here.

I'm guessing Sutherland would look remarkably different, and I'm going to state this: Aberdeen would have looked like a rainy fucking Dubai right now after finding fossil fuel in our waters.

Furthermore, our education system was already far ahead of its time, this would have expanded to levels far larger than today.

In 300 years, it's been a managed strip of resources, people, culture and identity, all to fund the coloniser, you dont have to believe in an independent Scotland to ask yourself this question, the circumstances that led us to this time are facts, people were cleared, assets have been used and taken, tax has flowed south, this is all traceable and undeniable.

What would Scotland look like? Just ask yourself, and I think most will realise the cities we live and work in today would not look like they do now, and we may even have more of them ".
