Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Defamatory Post – “Keeping Up With The Coupdashions...The One About Let’s Use The CAB3 Funds For A Luxury Holiday”
I am writing on behalf of the affected Zimbabwean nationals, known as the “Men of Valour,” to request the immediate review and removal of a post currently circulating on your platform. The post contains false and defamatory allegations that these individuals misused £110,000 of CAB3 campaign funds to fund a personal holiday in Turkey.
Nature of the Content
The post, attributed to “Gerrard Anko Ged,” states:
> “I am told this UK ZANU PF crew was given about £110k to back CAB3 and with that money they had a great escape to Turkey 🇹🇷 where they enjoyed the loot 😂😂. Some of these are the ones you see harassing citizens like Chenayi Mutambasere at the Zim Embassy.”
It uses photographs of the Men of Valour taken during their trip.
Grounds for Removal
The statements are factually incorrect, misleading, and defamatory for the following reasons:
False Allegation of Misappropriation: The Men of Valour received no funds from any CAB3 campaign. No public, party, or campaign money was used for their travel.
Misrepresentation of Purpose: The trip was a Christian pilgrimage to the Seven Churches of Revelation 1–4 in Turkey. It was private, self-funded, and religious in nature.
Harm to Reputation: The post imputes criminal conduct and dishonesty to identifiable individuals. This has caused reputational harm and distress to the men, their families, and their community in the UK.
Violation of Platform Policy: The content breaches your policies on hate, harassment, and false information that damages individual reputation. It constitutes malicious misinformation intended to discredit the individuals for political gain.
Requested Action
Pursuant to your community standards and applicable law, we respectfully request that you:
Remove the post and any reposts of the same defamatory content immediately.
Suspend or restrict the account responsible pending investigation, if found to be in breach of policy.
Confirm in writing once the content has been removed.
We are prepared to provide supporting evidence, including statements from the individuals and documentation confirming the private, self-funded nature of the pilgrimage, should you require it.
Closing
Freedom of expression does not extend to the publication of knowingly false statements that harm private individuals. We trust that X and Facebook remain committed to maintaining a platform where users are protected from malicious defamation and disinformation.
Please treat this matter with urgency given the ongoing reputational damage. You may contact me at [your email/phone] for further information.
Yours faithfully,
Dr Masimba Mavaza
