dear mr @richardsiken
i’ve never been good at letting go. no matter how badly things require me to leave, i could never do it. and if i have to, then it should destroy me completely. i have no pity for myself.
@vazhappeninn Faith is passive. Hope is passive. Determination is active. If you think there's a chance to work it out, take clear, forceful action. If that doesn't work, you'll see what needs to happen.
If you're the one who needs to leave: same thing, really. You're holding on to the idea that things will be different, which means that what you had is already gone. What you have left is disappointment, or worse. If you have to leave, then it's just a matter of making a to-do list of mundane tasks to complete. Feelings are natural. They don't destroy people. Behaviors destroy people. Sticking around when it's time to leave is corrosive. For sure that will diminish or destroy you.
@vazhappeninn Truth is, you don't get to choose. People leave, weather changes. You can't stop it. All you can do is work on acceptance. You shrug your shoulders or you fight like hell but things leave anyway. It's like fighting gravity or time. Things last for as long as they're supposed to.
@richardsiken i think i needed to hear this more than i realised. it’s not easy to accept things for what they are, especially when you still have faith that things could be different. thank you for putting it into words so thoughtfully. i really appreciate your perspective, sir.
