What is the Spanish term for a mature maize plant that lacks ear shoots? (Barren in English)
Mexican Spanish is most immediately relevant, but I'm also interested in other dialects!
@adeelzafarpbg # of ears where 1+ kernels were set/# of pollination attempts. I figure there's some human error involved too. 🥵
Each point represents 1 accession on 1 day. Sometimes that captures 1 pollination attempt, other times it captures 200+.
I'm just beginning to explore the data. 😎
11 years of Ames 🌽genebank hand pollination data plotted against maximum daily air temperature. Pollination success does indeed decline above 95F/35C. 🥵
Dr. Fowlers work has inspired the direction of my career and much of my research with genetic resources. It was great to finally hear him speak in person, especially as the opening speaker at the @WorldFoodPrize#BorlaugDialogue in Des Moines. #FoodPrize22
JOIN: Training course on vegetable genetic resources conservation and use
TOPICS: germplasm information collection and management; landscape genomics study and analysis; and information sharing on crop regeneration (amaranth, malvaceae, solanaceae, and cucurbits).
@Ballykae@FranklinHabit I took a trip to Iceland with my grandma in 2019. She is a well traveled lady who lived abroad in the 90s. Yet, she pulled a fat wad of greenbacks out at the grocery store (where we bought yarn 😁). Luckily, I was there to intervene-- the cashier was dumbfounded.
