@ZaWJBek@NelsAlmhere@PinkPiggieDan@Constitution_94 Private developments are ALL facilitated by government, they don't happen without a competent government - that's their role
Private developers always build the actual buildings - Most of them have the state as a shareholder too
@1stMotho@Constitution_94@phanuel188 There are things called "edge cities" or special economic development zones/areas - Sandton, Umhlanga, Rosebank, Menlyn Maine, Waterfall City etc
All of these areas are planned, special infrusture is put it in and the state gives incentives for private developers to build there
@ZaWJBek@PinkPiggieDan@Constitution_94 He's right
Since democracy SA has developed way faster than during apartheid
I don't like them either, but that's the ANC's doing
@1stMotho@Constitution_94@phanuel188 Nonsense
These developments are largely private-public partnerships. The state plays a huge role in the planning and infrastructure before a single brick is laid
The state is also often a major shareholder of the private companies that build these developments
@papyt14@Constitution_94@phanuel188 No infrastructure, services and town planning is provided by the government
The buildings are built by private companies, the biggest shareholder in most of those companies is the PIC (AKA 0the government)
@phanuel188@Constitution_94 Governments don't build cities, private companies do. That true for all major cities in the world
But the government provides the infrastructure, planning and stability for it to be possible
The government is also the biggest investor in those private companies through the PIC
