@UKFREEDOMUNITE Actually, I believe American English, specifically the Southern dialect is closer to old English, and that you Brits actually changed the pronunciations. We do like to shorten words though such as, “color.”
@DrocoElite@CaptDakk3@yElff_@ThatDood2189 The reason soccer is the most popular sport worldwide is because it is the cheapest sport to play. It requires 2 things: a place to play and a ball of any kind. The poorest nations can participate in it. No offense, but it’s literally considered a “starter sport” in the US.
@yElff_ There is only one sport where you cannot come out straight out of college (much less high school) and compete at the top level. Baseball. I don’t even know if I would put soccer in the top 5.
Baseball
Football/rugby
Gymnastics
Hockey
MMA/Boxing
Golf
Are all harder sports.
@Timcast Trump had little to do with this win. He didn’t endorse until the last minute when Paxton was already polling way ahead. Is like jumping in, in the 4th when the score is 56-3.
@connorwwallace9@Truth_matters20 Since Christy is Good then he cannot be dubious and would have left a visible authority to guide his faithfully. He would have given his faithful an authority to interpret scripture in accordance with His will. Much like when He said to Peter, “Feed my sheep, Tend my sheep…”
@connorwwallace9@Truth_matters20 This Catholic Church teaches that God is the highest authority as well. It seems dubious that Christ would allow so many Christians who want to follow Him faithfully to be led astray by their misguided interpretation of scriptuere.
@connorwwallace9@Truth_matters20 The early church recognized 3 offices: Bishop, Presbyter, Deacon. (Cf. Ignatius)
Paul himself says that he was ministering as a priest (Greek Hierourgeõ) (Rm15:16) the role of the elders was to preform priestly acts (hierourgounta). This is why later the two words were combined
@connorwwallace9@Truth_matters20 Saying Priest derives from Hiereus rather than Presbyteros is actually drawing a theological conclusion from an incomplete linguistic observation.
@connorwwallace9@Truth_matters20 Jesus to His Disciples- “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever, the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
@connorwwallace9@Truth_matters20 Jesus didn't just gather followers and leave them to interpret things individually.
He:
+Appointed the 12 with specific authority
+Made Peter the chief shepherd (John 21:15-17)
+Gave binding authority (Matthew 16:19)
+Promised the Holy Spirit to guide the Church(John 16:13)
