Yesterday, @IndianExpress reported an unprecedented rupture inside the Election Commission: TWO of its three members objecting on record, 14 times in 10 months, to decisions taken without their knowledge.

Today, the second part of our investigation looks at the concern Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi flagged most often: Who really controls our electoral rolls?

We followed that question to Goa, where we found something deeply concerning.

Dr @DrMohanBhagwat recently said, “India is the land of Buddha.”

Interesting.

Because the ideological father figure of the @RSSorg, “Veer” Savarkar, was deeply critical of Buddha, Buddhism and of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s decision to embrace Buddhism.

In the 7th volume of “Savarkar Samagra”, there is an article by Savarkar titled,

“By accepting Buddhism, you will become helpless”.

In this piece, “Veer” wrote: “Therefore, even if the individual named Dr. Ambedkar becomes 'Bhikshu Ambedkar', no Hindu is going to be affected by any sense of impurity (Sutak). (Feeling) Neither joy nor sorrow;
where Buddha himself failed, what significance does Ambedkar hold?"

After Dr. Ambedkar embraced Buddhism along with lakhs of his followers in 1956, Savarkar wrote in 'Kesari' on October 30, 1956:

"The reason Dr. Ambedkar changed his sect, or call it conversion if they wish, along with some lakhs of followers was not because of any profound devotion to Buddhism. Rather, a Hindu-nation-destroying ambition sits hidden in the dark depths of his mind."

Savarkar’s sentence is constructed as a devastating comparison: “jahaan swayam Buddha haar gaye, wahaan Ambedkar kis jhaad ki patti hai?”

which roughly translates to;
“Where the Buddha himself was defeated, who is Ambedkar and he is of no significance or consequence”

So which is it, RSS?

Is India truly the land of Buddha Or does the RSS still stand by Savarkar’s hostility towards Buddhism and Dr. Ambedkar’s conversion?

He isn't a Hindu, so how can he still claim a Hindu caste identity?
He converted long back, yet continues to play the Dalit victim card.

And wasn't the justification for conversion that Buddhism is a religion where everyone is equal?

Then how does it make sense to embrace a religion based on equality while continuing to play the victim card over caste-based inequality?

Isn't that contradictory?
