@ElmTreeBees Bees see red the same as black. It's written in most of bee books (I have not tested myself).
And nobody wears black suit when working with bees - it's the color of bear...
@calluna4u@beehousehoney Murray, what does your Amm exactly mean in your tweets?
Is it pedigree Amm from breeder or their offsprings (F1) or some mix which looks like Amm or something another?
We have some fans of Amm in Czechia and they do not mention this type of problems at all...
Thank you.
Jakub.
@apiculturalLdn@ElmTreeBees It depends on registration type of VMP - you are still in EU.... This one is called Formidol. Maybe it has our national registration only - then sorry please. But generally it exists in different countries with different names - I would be surprised you wouldn´t have one...
@apiculturalLdn@ElmTreeBees We have licensed medicine which contains 40 ml of 85% formic acid and is recommended (among other things) against Ascosphaera apis (chalk brood). Obviously there is contraindication: you are not allowed to treat when honey for human consumption is in the hive.
@winepunk Těch možností, co udělat pro volně žijící zvířata v sebemenší zahradě, je spousta. Dobře to mají zmáknuté Němci - zejména od nich jsme před lety brali inspiraci pro zahradní hnízdiště:

@calluna4u @barry0sullivan You can either watch evening news on TV - or beekeeping pics on TW... ;-)
Second option seems beter (to me).
Thanks for sharing!
@calluna4u Can imagine... :-)
Thanks for the honest repor, it's good to know I'm not the only one having some mishaps - oil for chain went today into the fuel tank in my chainsaw... :-/
@calluna4u Nice and neat - when new :-)
And many good ideas, e.g. overflow.
Thank you for sharing.
The knowledge when operated will be interesting too.

@calluna4u@ElmTreeBees Many beekeepers here started to make foundations themselves or by small scale makers recently even it is more expensive. Because fake beewax came on the market and is causing much troubles. Closed circle with beeswax is safe solution and big scale makers can´t do small batch...
@calluna4u@ElmTreeBees Confirmed.
We don´t have prewired foundations at all... Some beeks aply wireless technology, majority has wires in frames, few use plastic.
Prew. foundations are one of the UK's specialties for us. Like sep. water taps, vinegar crisps, salted poridge, imp. units, school uniforms.
@apimondia@FAOWHOCodex In the #Czech Republic customers prefer dark #honeydew honey. So nobody is making honey lighter, but there are frauds with adding sulfite ammonia caramel (caramel color - #E150d) to make honey darker.
So many countries, so many customs...
@winepunk Už pět let máme vajíčka i pro sousedy.
Na vesnici pro nás bylo snazší je od nich brát. Tady nějak nebylo rozumně od koho. A tak město naučilo včelaře slepičařit... ;-)
Zrovna dneska jsem dodělal statistiku druhého hejna:
