Season 6, day 9.
Today as a whole was a drag. There were a lot of walls to scale. The only way I could get myself to practice was to expect to be bored and boring. And that’s completely fine. The music can be great, AND you can be tired and unfocused.

Cheap tickets don’t attract young people to classical music due to one fundamental reason...

They're not looking for value for money, they're looking for value for time

#Historic #photo of the incomparable #pianist Vladimir Horowitz. “Always there should be a little mistake here and there. I am for it. The people who don’t do mistakes are cold like ice. It takes risk to make a mistake. If you don’t take risk, you are boring.” #piano #music

The 2nd movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 is so bleak, so sorrowful, so painful. Despite this pain it has something healing, something universally uplifting. Here is a clip from my Mozart concert in Brussels.

One more week until the first stop of the @ASMForchestra 2022 U.S. tour at the @RiverCenterGa in Columbus, Georgia! On the program is Dvořák's Violin Concerto, which contains arguably the most beautiful slow movement in the entire repertoire.
