Raging. We are broken. We are a broken people. Those babies. Those adults. Their families. The terror.
We must repent of what we’ve allowed, sacrificing beloved humans on the altars of violence, money, power and control.
Lord, have mercy on us. #NashvilleCovenantSchool
"Not many will see you learning, confessing, repenting, uprooting, retooling, forgiving, inviting, empowering. But we will see its fruit. The hidden work is the heart work is the hard work." – @Ashlee_Eiland
@andylassner@Ashlee_Eiland I love this quote and also love the convicting truths Ashlee awakes in us in her phenomenal book Human(Kind). Perfect for right now. Thank you, Ashlee, for helping me be better.
Grateful to face today deeply rooted in God’s power and love. This keeps me secure, strong and at peace through whatever challenge that will certainly come my way.
"My hope is that there is a tectonic shift in our churches so that we become the place where people feel not just the safest, but are drawn back to something greater."

The Kingdom of God is way bigger, way “other,” way nearer and closer, more incomprehensible and upsetting to our restricted thinking than the political boxes we try to fit it in. Just remember that. He uses foolish things to shame the wise; the weak things to shame the strong.
I’m reminded today of this quote from MLK: “the ultimate measure of a man (or woman) is not where one stands in times of comfort..., but where one stands in times of challenge and controversy.”
@Ashlee_Eiland Devotion time in the quiet of the am inspired & grounds me; a 2nd devotion - & prayer - with my spouse gives us what we need to face hard days together.
