A scientist and cake aficionado on a mission to make the yummiest and fluffiest vegan cakes. Occasionally my camera roll is taken over by vegan savouries.
@rosie_saunt Science is never infallible (as we never stop learning and discovering) but it’s the best we have. I’d still bet on science for my survival
@nycdavidwebb A6: typically for 200gr of flour in a recipe I am using 1 teaspoon of soda and 1 teaspoon of baking powder. It works even if I use heavy ingredients eg if I add dry fruits
@nycdavidwebb A5: I am trying to find on the web a recipe I am using from her book but can’t find it. This one comes close even though it uses veggie oil instead of a mix of coconut oil and vegan butter that I typically use. Best of luck!! 👍Let me know how it goes! 💪🙌🤞
@nycdavidwebb A3: the other main factor is the source of fat. I found that a combination of vegan butter and coconut oil work the best. Let me dig out a good recipe for you
@nycdavidwebb A2: to get the cake to rise you need a combination of baking powder and baking soda. I get the best results with this combo. Also it’s best to avoid heavy stuff like flax seeds.
@nycdavidwebb A1: Hi David! So nice of you to contact me. Bless you! Yes you are right! Vegan cakes are tricky. Even cake recipes by well-known vegan chefs don’t work well in my hands. I boiled it down to 2 main reasons:
@Dubai_allergy @JennyWren1977 @HughFW@SoilAssociation@SAfoodforlife Simple: eating out is a social experience unlike shopping at supermarket. With the calorie count easily available on the menu people know that their companions (partners, friends, colleagues etc) will quickly figure out their calorie burden. And they know they will be judged.
@Camille_Corrado@DigiParentCoach Hi Camille. Quick question for you. Elizabeth's tutorial recently showed that sexting is highly prevalent. How does one deal with peer pressure? #digiparentschat
@brittany_moyce@One_Angry_Chef 2be fair some vegans use gorilla tactics. Guess thinkin being nice won't achieve much like nice chef wouldn't be as effective as angry chef
@brittany_moyce@One_Angry_Chef Overall my objection was even more basic: let's not lump vegans together with the crooks when there is good science to back them up
@brittany_moyce@One_Angry_Chef Also people may care about their health but give little toss about environment or animal rights. That's why I didn't go there.
@brittany_moyce@One_Angry_Chef Yes but looking at it statistically in population (retrospective longitudinal observ.trials) the risk-reward ratio massively tips to latter
