@Defensofidei It means addressing the sins not the sinner. To provide compassion but still speak for justice.
To stand up for others and correct with charity.
My first child had a brain cyst detected in utero, and doctors told us there was an 80% chance she had Trisomy 18, with very little chance of survival. Abortion was never an option for my wife and me.
And here we are today, 23 years later. ❤️
You and me both. Theologically, medically and scientifically abortion is murder. It is only philosophically labeling the baby in the womb as not human yet and human guidelines that determine that line allows for the abortions to occur legally. The root and spread of acceptance of abortion through Planned Parenthood in and of itself is eugenics if you research the founder.
Even statistically 92%-96% of abortions are like what this couple did a healthy mother and baby that may have (based on unreliable genetic testing) had issues.
God bless you on your mission to also end abortion and give these poor babies a voice.
It's time to debunk anti-Catholic myths on this platform and set the record straight.
Myth #1: Catholics worship Mary.
No, we don't.
Catholics worship God alone: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
If Catholics worshipped Mary, she'd be at the center of every Mass.
But she's not. Jesus is.
We honor Mary because she is the mother of Jesus Christ, just as Scripture says:
"All generations will call me blessed" (Luke 1:48).
When Catholics ask Mary to pray for them, we're not treating her as God. We're doing the same thing Christians do when they ask others to pray for them.
The difference is that we believe those in Heaven are alive in Christ (Matthew 22:32) and continue to pray for the Church (Revelation 5:8).
Worship belongs to God alone. Mary's role is to lead people to her Son:
"Do whatever He tells you." (John 2:5)
The Catholic faith doesn't end with Mary. It forever and always begins and ends with Jesus Christ.
My wife and I lost all three of our children during pregnancy. I would give up everything I have, everything I own, every fucking dime I've ever made, everything I am to have any or all of them alive and having Down Syndrome.
@AClockworkB@realDrTT I completely agree I meant more in regard to the person themselves not the actions.
Maybe I’m being too analytical and nitpicking semantics. Didn’t mean to convolute the discussion.
In any case abortion needs to be stopped and it’s time to see it what it is.
The Church teaches two things simultaneously:
1) Abortion is a grave moral evil.
2) People who have had abortions must be treated with compassion, mercy, and hope for reconciliation.
While we are right to condemn this act, we must also pray for Jesse, his wife and deceased child.
I see far too much of the former and not nearly enough of the latter.
@realDrTT I agree with this because everything we do is visible to others and if we present compassion and charitable correction it could sway others who may not comment or interact on the platform.
@AClockworkB@realDrTT Because we are all God’s children granted with free will. Just because they may not show remorse now doesn’t mean they couldn’t later.
It is not our place to judge or even grow faith in others but rather plant the seeds.
My wife’s OBGYN is pro-life.
This we discovered much later with our 3rd child. Although we had our suspicions.
The last visit where we pretty much confirmed miscarriage of our 4th, he was explaining what to expect though we already knew as it isn’t the first time.
I asked about sepsis and for first time I had heard him say: “it can happen when people God forbid have an abortion and there is unsanitized tools etc”
He is a good obgyn. One of the best.
He asks us to get the blood test to test for Down syndrome but he does it for preparations sake.
But I was shocked to find out 90% of those babies who have T21 are killed.
Of course we don’t WANT it to be the case. And of course it WOULD be a trial.
But none of that justifies abortion.
It’s even possible that our fourth miscarried child (Francis) had Down syndrome. I don’t know, I only say that given the high frequency of miscarriages with babies that have T21.
My point is that I am more saddened that people are led to believe the right choice is to kill because of the hardness of life.
I do still feel for the wife in this situation. I don’t think they are evil necessarily but just that what they chose is evil.
Even still they are not outside the Lords redemptive hand.
I hope they can heal both body and soul and tell their followers that it was ultimately the wrong choice.
I am not judging their feelings or their situation as much as their willingness to publicly announce it and that choice itself.
I hope people understand that.
We are all fallen. We all need a savior. We have one. He is just but merciful.
Let us pray for them and their baby and future. Let us love them as much as we are able.
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11 as part of the nation's 250th anniversary celebration.
To prepare spiritually for this historic moment, consider praying a 9-day Sacred Heart Novena from June 3 through June 11.
This novena offers an opportunity to unite your prayers with Catholics across the country as we ask Jesus to pour out His mercy, healing, and love upon our nation.
May these nine days help us grow in trust, deepen our devotion to the Sacred Heart, and prepare our hearts for this special act of consecration.
