i know some filipinos questions why 🇵🇭 is high in the gender equality ranking of countries even though there are lots of misogyny here...the thing is..other countries are just THAT bad...
Americans in this app are really out here saying Filipinos misinterpret English because we’re not native English speakers 🤡 We’re a former American colony and English is one of our official languages; we know exactly the colonial implications of the term “developed.”
calling lumpia a fake name for "spring rolls" when hokkien-speaking chinese people are the ones who gave it that name and introduced it to the filipinos is so fucking weird what a racist thing to say. so you're saying any name other than the english name of the dish is fake?
...interesting how this 💜 discourse exposed how many 🇺🇸 people still carry so much racism and ignorance toward nationalities they perceive as “non-English speaking.” somehow, this is the one thing they all unite over. culture vultures regardless of race lol !
y’all treating filipinos like they’re dumb and crazy when it was colonized by the US not even 100 years ago. so god forbid filipinos are protective of their culture being used by their colonizers yall are odd
the argument isn’t about semantics. people who don’t live in the ph/not filipinos are hellbent on making it out like the people yelling at this guy don’t know what one word means when they don’t realize we have pattern recognition for events like this that part of our culture-
@JulianKJarboe I'm convinced all the outrage is caused by a non-native English speaking population misinterpreting words from a native English speaker
that and the vegan part
