i miss california. not the politics or the people, just the verdant natural beauty and infrastructure. civil engineering is an underrated service. no one thinks about the ramifications of badly thought out roads, parks, and suburbs until they've lived in many different states.

anyone who has been homeless or living on the streets knows there's a huge difference between those of us who camp in the trees and find private *safe* places and those who live in tents on the sidewalk. even homeless people don't feel safe walking past the tent cities.

birth is so nuanced. you can do everything "right" and have it go catastrophically wrong, and other people can do nothing to prepare and have a flawless birth. i think birth is not a badge of honor beyond "i did it, i survived and i know what to expect next time"

the goal is to look as good as possible with as minimal effort involved; however you will still be treated as though you spent 2 hours getting ready. but you know deep down it only took 20 min. that's a skill.

pregnancy brain becomes more real as you progress, i believe the natural drive to focus and prepare for the dire event of birth takes over paired with the knowledge that our brain rewires connections related to our baby & their dna.

@Philosophi_Cat when i worked retrieving carts at a grocery store, that was my one and only job. i don't think people realize that there are jobs based around these carts left in the parking lot. it's usually not a cashier or someone that has to step away from something else to get your cart.

@peterboghossian people generally don't want to be represented by someone eating their own fecal matter. when people choose you to represent them and something like this is leaked, it's everyone's business (because you chose to let it be by seeking the position.) eating sh*t isn't wholesome.
