And, my mother would not give me breakfast unless I read @the_hindu newspaper of the day and answer her questions on the lead stories of the day.

Today, I am ashamed to see such a tweet from you, a senior journalist working for the national leading newspaper. You praise the @CMOTamilnadu . No issues. And whenever Mr. @TVKVijayHQ does good things, he deserves to be appreciated. However, when you tweet next showering encomium on him, post a disclaimer as well, saying that this is your personal opinion and not of the newspaper for whom you are working.

ஆட்சியா? காட்சியா?

ஒரு நாட்டின் அரசர் தினமும் ஒரே வசனம் சொல்வாராம்.
"என் ஆட்சியைப் போல சிறந்த ஆட்சி உலகிலேயே இல்லை. என் அமைச்சர்கள் எல்லோரும் அறிவாளிகள்!"

ஒருநாள் தனது ஆலோசகரை அழைத்து,

"என் அமைச்சரவையில் நான்கு முட்டாள்களைக் கண்டுபிடித்து வா!" என்றாராம்.

ஆலோசகர் ஒரு மாதம் முழுவதும் தேடினார். இறுதியில் இரண்டு பேரை மட்டும் அழைத்து வந்தார்.

முதலாமவரைக் காட்டி,

"இவர் செய்யும் செயல்களே மக்கள் மத்தியில் கேலிக்கும் விமர்சனத்திற்கும் காரணமாகி வருகின்றன. ஆகவே இவர் நான்காவது முட்டாள்."

அடுத்தவரைக் காட்டி,

"மாணவர்களின் திறனை மதிப்பிடுகிறேன் என்ற பெயரில், கல்வியின் தரத்தை உயர்த்துவதை விட கேமரா முன் நடக்கும் நிகழ்வுகளுக்கே அதிக முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுக்கிறார். அதனால் இவர் மூன்றாவது முட்டாள்."

அரசர் கேட்டார்:

"மீதமுள்ள இருவர் எங்கே?"

ஆலோசகர் சிரித்தபடி சொன்னார்:

"நாட்டில் விலைவாசி, வேலைவாய்ப்பு, கல்வி, மருத்துவம் என்று மக்கள் எதிர்கொள்ளும் ஏராளமான பிரச்சினைகள் இருக்கும்போது, இப்படி முட்டாள்களைத் தேடி ஒரு மாதம் சுற்றிய நான் இரண்டாவது முட்டாள்."

"அந்த வேலைகளை விட்டுவிட்டு, இந்த வேலையை எனக்குக் கொடுத்த நீங்கள்தான் முதல் முட்டாள்!"

இந்தக் கதை ஒரு பழைய நகைச்சுவை மட்டுமல்ல; ஆட்சியின் முன்னுரிமைகள் மாறும்போது மக்கள் கேட்கும் கேள்வியும் கூட.

மக்கள் எதிர்பார்ப்பது ரீல்ஸ் அல்ல; முடிவுகள்.

கேமரா ஃப்ளாஷ் அல்ல; செயல்திறன்.

விளம்பர அரசியல் அல்ல; மக்கள் அரசியல்.

ஆட்சி என்பது "Camera... Rolling... Action..." என்று காட்சிகளை உருவாக்கும் மேடை அல்ல.

அது "திட்டம்... செயல்பாடு... மக்கள் நலம்..." என்று முடிவுகளை உருவாக்கும் பொறுப்பு.

கேமரா அணைந்த பிறகும் மக்கள் வாழ்க்கையில் ஒளி எரிய வேண்டும்; அதுதான் உண்மையான ஆட்சி.

பத்திரிகையாளர் என்று சொல்லிக் கொண்டால் எதை வேண்டுமானாலும் உளறி வைக்கலாம்.

இவ்வளவு மழை நீரையும் சென்னை தேக்கி வைக்குமளவுக்கு பெரிய அண்டாவை சாவித்திரி கண்ணன் வாங்கி வைத்திருக்கிறாரா என்று தெரியவில்லை.

20 டி.எம்.சி மழை நீரை தேக்கி வைக்க வேண்டுமானால் சுமார் 60 கி.மீ சதுர கிலோ மீட்டர் அளவுக்கு நீர்த்தேக்கம் அமைக்க வேண்டும். கர்நாடகாவின் கபினி அணை அளவு இதுதான்.

சென்னையில் பெய்யும் மொத்த மழை நீரையும் சேகரிக்க வேண்டுமெனில் நகரின் மொத்தப் பரப்பளவில் ஏழில் ஒரு பங்கு நிலம் வேண்டும். புதியதாக பாலம் அமைப்பதற்கோ, சாலையை அகலப்படுத்துவதற்கோ கூட நிலம் மீட்க அரசுக்கு தாவூ தீர்ந்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் சூழலில் இது சாத்தியமா? ஒருவேளை முட்டாள்தனமாக அப்படியொரு முடிவை அரசு எடுத்துவிட்டால், எத்தனை லட்சம் மக்களை வெளியேற்ற வேண்டியிருக்கும்?

the students were reading the passage from the book. Minister stopped it and said these students are just doing மனப்படாம் and didn’t know the meaning of it.

went ahead and asked the kids “what is the meaning of TENDERNESS”

students answered it.

went on and asked “our love is everlasting-னா என்னது?”

the girl from the 1st bench stood up and answered the question.

minister just nod the head and went on to ask “everlasting மட்டும்”

the girl brilliantly answered for this one too.

minister just nod her head and looking at the last benches. some other girl from the last bench answered as well.

NOT EVEN A SINGLE APPRECIATION GIVEN by the minister. No claps. No encouraging words.

shifting goal post maathiri went ahead and asked about spoken English and what is your dad question.

sigh!

what is their actual intention? they answered her question but got a name that they didn’t even understand a simple question.

Just look at the eyes of that child. ஒரு சிறிய பாராட்டு would have boosted the moral of those kids and the image of the minister.

the kid would’ve remembered the whole incident as “got claps from minister” memory. but reality 💔🥺
