I want to ask the opposition - Why don’t you want to allow discussion on how to prevent paper leaks? Why don’t you want to hold the Govt to account on the floor of the House?

This is disruption for the sake of it.

Many MPs like me who have been interacting with students who want genuine reforms are eagerly waiting to raise their genuine concerns.

If you are really interested in reform - allow the Parliament to function. Do some real work for a change.

I didn't call these four students to congratulate them. I called them to listen.

Two of them have just cleared NEET. Two are in the middle of preparing for it right now. And for an hour, they told me honestly, without filtering it for a politician in the room, what the system actually feels like from a student's side.

Only this much and make it positive. The students shared their insights on the examination process and suggested ways to make it more student-friendly. They highlighted issues such as exam-cycle uncertainty, rising coaching costs, counselling delays, inadequate mental health support, and the high cost of private medical education.

Here's what I told them, and what I'm saying publicly: these aren't complaints. They're inputs. I'm taking each of these to the concerned ministry and to the officials who can actually change them because policy that affects lakhs of students should be shaped by students, not written over their heads.

Dharmendra Pradhan Ji began his public life as a student activist, fighting for students’ rights. Even as a young leader, he stood with students demanding justice, including against question paper leaks. That concern for students stayed with him throughout his public life.

When the examination crisis happened, he took full responsibility. He did not take the easy way out. He stayed, accepted responsibility, got the guilty arrested, ensured the re-examination was conducted in record time so that students did not lose an academic year, initiated systemic reforms, and set the examination system on the path towards computer-based testing.

For me, he has always been a Minister who was accessible, positive and deeply responsive. Even recently, he helped expedite the long-pending deemed university status for Mount Carmel College upon my request. He immediately understood what it meant for thousands of students and ensured the matter moved forward.

Politics is often unforgiving. Years of sincere work can sometimes be overshadowed by one difficult chapter. But his contributions - from the rollout of Ujjwala Yojana to implementing the National Education Policy, which will shape India’s education system for decades - will endure.
