My July goals went kinda the same way as my car did on a remote mountain pass. It stalled π
Still, some august goals!
- Finish my CSS/HTML course
- Read a book
- 25x russian lessons
- Cycle to work 1x or more
- Wall mount my TV
I nominate @ArpanDas2211 to make a list tooππ»
@AllenWhitlock @barb_avon Just for the record, I'm not a published writer. I love to write and would love to be published one day and make some extra money from it. I don't expect to be able to live just off writing, but just to make anything at all from writing seems really hard based on what others say
@AllenWhitlock @barb_avon The thought of (not) getting sales can be enough to keep me from writing. Pay to be published and get help with marketing? Vanity press, scam (acc to twitter). Traditional printing? Is impossible to get into and you get next to zero payout. Twitter? Empty follows. So, what then?
@DonnaPo24392090 Story snippets over background images, cover art, bookmarks and other small goodies that might come with physical copies, moodboards for WIPs, writing space photos, concept art, things from the author's interests and hobbies...
@BubbleyBrain Which tropes? I got pushed away from crime fiction because I over consumed and because of a lot of repeated themes that made the genre feel stale to me
Currently reading crime fiction for the first time in years, even though I regularly watch / listen to episodes about true crime in other media... what genre og reading have you 'abandoned', and are you curious to get back into it?
The Wronged by Owen Mullen
Suddenly you're getting the attention of the wrong people. A fast moving, twisty thriller set in Glasgow.

@Lisa_K_Short @LeilaniGraceffa Well, I used to think the lyrics to "I don't know what you want but I can't give it anymore" was "I don't know what you want but I can give it, animal" π . In all fairness, this was when I was a kid and English is my 2nd language but still...
@LeilaniGraceffa Absolutely, my all time favourite band and this song is one of their best. I'm hoping to finally get to use the tickets I bought to see them in 2019 this year π€£
Unexpected tongue twister: πΆwe were victims of the nightπ΅ (from 'shut up and dance' by Walk The Moon). Surprisingly tricky for a native speaker of a language that doesn't use "W" π
@GloverRichard7 Tough question! I absolutely loved sunset / evening walks in Yerevan, especially to sit at the top of the Cascade to watch the sunset over the city and Mount Ararat. I also loved walking around the historic quarters of Gijon in Kyoto Japan :)
@kevindwriter It's kinda funny to me how everyone uses WhatsApp, except in Norway. Here, I only use it to talk to (for lack of a better word) foreigners. I don't know any Norwegians who use WhatsApp π
A very interesting perspective on #selfpublishing and editing. Sadly there still seems to be a stigma around self-published books, just as there is around FanFiction etc. Do you think this will change anytime soon?
@eric5310pub It's even more important in self-publishing due to the stigma of "lack of quality" indie published books face.
It's why we have a harder time getting into bookstores and libraries and why Editorial Reviews become so important for us.
