If @ussoccer followed FIFA's proven universal principles of sporting merit, solidarity, and promotion and relegation no club in the country would have to pay a franchise fee.

Have a player that REALLY wanted to play D1 ⚽️
Was able to connect her to a level that’s low enough she could compete if all went perfectly for her.
2 yrs later she amassed less than 200 min PT.

She expressed to me that it’s hard, the mountain is high & she just doesn’t want to climb that high anymore.
I 💯 respect her coming to that mature conclusion
Will help her move on to a level that she can actually play at.

As indicated by most in the portal, many if not most don’t understand how high the mountain is

Recruits and Parents:
It’s ok if you decide not to play in college. Plenty of opportunities to continue playing the game you love with club sports and intramural activities at a much less stressful level.
College athletics is difficult at any level D1-D3, NAIA and JUCO in terms of the time commitment and the physical, mental and emotional toll associated with it. Parents please respect their decision if that occurs. I know you have invested a lot of time and resources, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that if their heart is not in it, it’s not worth it. They will only resent the game later.

We have a Pay to Play system because:
Fields cost 💰
Referees cost 💰
Uniforms cost 💰
Qualified coaches cost 💰
Travel costs💰etc, etc, etc
& with the exception of some of the MLS Pro youth academies, no pro clubs to foot the bill.

There are clubs like @Sheriffs_FC that do all this at the MLS NEXT level for FREE.
If we want to eliminate all costs for youth, thus removing 💰 as a Barrier, follow models like they have
