Buying vs possessing is very different. I grew up hunting as did my kids. Your parents can let you ise a gun for hunting or target shooting. In Texas, you can get a hunting license and hunt on your own at age 9. I hunted unsupervised at 10 in Arizona. I had hunter safety certification and my dad and uncle were in the same woods but we weren't together

We had a horrible thing happen in 2013. My nephew that was working for my company was killed in a car accident while working. At least 5 local competitors reached out and offered to cover his route. When I first started a competitor offered his termite rig so I could do a couple of termite jobs to gain the cash needed to buy my own. I was fortunate enough to not need to use any of those offers, but those people are actually family, not competition.

I've never seen the Northeastern US. I only drove through Big Bend area of Texas. Those 2 spots are on my bucket list. If I had 1 last chance to see a thing I've already seen it would be Sequoia National Park. I've been to Spain, England, India, Thailand, Costa Rica, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Italy, France . Roman stuff throughout Europe is close but Sequoia is natural
