Random thought whilst in Singapore - NAKAKAINGGIT SILA. Upon reading, corruption USED to be widespread until they had leader, Lee Kuan Yew, who had zero tolerance policy for corruption. Cut to this day, Singapore is thriving. A beautifully developed city, smooth roads, a gorgeous airport , proper public transportation, stunning infrastructure and yet I still see green around the city. Although, after reading, the temptation of greed from officials are still there BUT once they are caught they are punished immediately. Paano na tayo Pilipinas? Ano na kaya mangyayari? I pray so hard we will all collectively vote for a leader who will want to fight corruption one day. Sana talaga. Sayang ... Pilipinas. We have beautiful mountains, the best beaches and islands in the world (for me) GREED has stolen the opportunity for this country to reach its FULL beautiful potential. โน๏ธ sana.. Sana talaga one day. Maybe not in my lifetime but I pray for all the future filipinos. But we have to stand up for that now. Haaaaay. Naiiyak ako.

paalala ko lang sa mga kapwa ko iskolar ng bayan, si bam aquino ang principal sponsor ng free tuition sa mga state universities. sana isama natin siya sa listahan ng mga iboboto bilang senador. :)
Ms. @HeidiMendoza45 was a state auditor turned whisteblower after exposing corruption in AFP in 2011. My team at UP-NCPAG organized a forum with her that was attended by hundreds of Public Administration students. Below are some of her remarkable quotes.
You have my vote, Maโam.
Sama-sama, kasama sina VP Leni Robredo at Sen. Bam Aquino, tiyak na maisusulong natin ang mas mababang presyo, tapat at totoong pamamahala, at mas maunlad na Pilipinas.

The best evidence of our political system's desperate bankruptcy is the proliferation of actors, actresses, and comedians dominating our legislative and executive branches, including the local government units. The enactment of laws and their implementations are now being entrusted to some people who never studied law or public administration.
Willy Revillame is a good man. He has helped a lot of people including the women that he loved. But that doesnโt make him prepared for the work of a senator. Philip Salvador is a fine actor. He made many people happy, including Kris Aquino, whom he gifted with a son. He belongs to a famous movie industry clan. But such credentials are not what are needed in the Senate. Lito Lapid is an excellent actor but he hasnโt performed enough in the Philippine Senate. By insisting to remain in the Senate, he effectively eased out the more qualified, the more competent candidates. His popularity isnโt a substitute for competence. The same is true with Bong Revilla. This guy has made politics his family business with his wife and sons all serving the government. What have they done?
Manny Pacquiao is the richest politician, next to the Villars. Of course, he deserves his wealth because he earned all of it. He did not steal money from the government. But the fact that he is a world champion in eight different boxing categories doesnโt make him prepared as a legislator. He hasnโt studied Political Science, much less Political Law and Constitutional Law. He isnโt even familiar with parliamentary rules and procedures. He appears odd when facing such parliamentarians as Chiz Esciudero, Alan Cayetano, and Francis Tolentino. He should aspire for an executive position if he wants to serve but not as a legislator. He is a good person and a good Filipino. But, with due respect, he canโt be a good senator. He should give way to the more competent candidates.
Tito Sotto has been a good public servant but he has served enough and at his age, he should give way to the younger, more dynamic and more progressive legislators. Erwin Tulfo should clarify his citizenship and explain to the people why the Commission on Appointments refused to confirm his appointment as DSWD secretary. He has an important issue to clarify to the Filipino voters. Ben Tulfo should stay away from the Senate and should instead leave Raffy Tulfo alone there. The Tulfos have to explain to the people about their sisterโs problem when she was former president Duterte's Tourism secretary and her contract with a TV network which allegedly benefitted her brother.
Vilma Santos must be already in her seventies. She should tell us why she is running again for Batangas governor and why, of all people, she is taking her own son with Edu Manzano, Luis, as her vice governor. She should also explain why she is allowing her other son, Christian with husband Ralph, to run for congressman, when this very young Recto has never experienced having served even as a barangay kagawad. Vilma's husband is already the Finance secretary. Are there no other Filipinos who could serve in their stead? Why are they monopolizing political powers? Vilma had been governor for the longest time, what outstanding achievements could she brag about?
Dear @bongbongmarcos ,
History will remember the legacy of every president not by their rhetoric, but by the lives they changed and the impact they left behind.
The late President Benigno โNoynoyโ Aquino III will forever be celebrated for the Sin Tax Law , which provided the critical lifeline that funded health programs for the poor.
President Rodrigo Duterte will be remembered for the landmark Universal Health Care (UHC) Law , which promised every Filipino the right to accessible and quality healthcare.
But what will history say about President Ferdinand โBongbongโ Marcos Jr.?
If the 2025 General Appropriations Act is signed as is โ with 90 billion in diverted PhilHealth funds, zero subsidy for healthcare, and inadequate prioritization of the UHC Law โ his administration will be etched in the annals of history as the one that turned its back on the sick, the suffering, and the dying.
Mr. President, imagine the faces of those you serve:
- A mother cradling her feverish child in the corridors of an overcrowded hospital, unable to afford even the most basic medication.
-A farmer in the provinces walking miles to a rural health center only to be told there are no funds for his dialysis sessions.
- An elderly man who contributed to PhilHealth all his life, now begging for help as mounting hospital bills eat away at his familyโs savings.
These are not just statistics. These are real people โ your people โ who are crying out for help, for dignity, and for hope. Yet, this proposed budget turns a deaf ear to their suffering. While they endure sleepless nights, skipping meals to make ends meet, the government is poised to deprioritize healthcare in favor of unprogrammed appropriations and the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).
When your administration diverted 90 billion from PhilHealth to unprogrammed appropriations, you signaled that healthcare is not a priority. When the government allocated zero subsidy for healthcare in 2025, you placed millions of Filipinos at risk, especially the poorest and most vulnerable. When the cries for support from those who depend on the Universal Health Care Law were met with silence, you betrayed the promise of a healthcare system that is meant to be universal, accessible, and equitable.
This is not about politics anymore Mr. President. This is about lives, Filipino lives. This is about mothers, fathers, children, and grandparents who will not survive another year of neglected healthcare. This is about patients sharing beds in government hospitals because there is no funding for better facilities. This is about the thousands who die preventable deaths every year because there is no medicine, no doctor, no system to catch them when they fall.
Mr. President, this is your moment!
You stand at a crossroads, and your decision on this budget will define your presidency. Veto the 2025 GAA and prioritize the health and dignity of the Filipino people.
Show them that you are a leader who values life over luxury. Show them that you are a president who listens to the cries of the suffering. Show them that you will honor the trust of every Filipino who pays into the system, believing it will be there when they need it most.
Do not let your legacy be one of indifference. Do not let history remember you as the president who allowed the healthcare system to crumble when it needed leadership the most. This is your chance to rise above politics and prove that you care for the Filipino people, not just in words, but in actions.
Mr. President, choose the path of compassion, integrity, and justice. Rewrite your legacy by leading with courage and putting healthcare where it belongs โ at the forefront of this nationโs priorities. Do it for the sick. Do it for the poor. Do it for the millions of Filipinos who trusted that their government would not abandon them.
Let history remember you as the president who stood for the people, not the one who turned away from them in their time of greatest need.
