We recently had a visit with Professor Niyi Osundare, poet and don of global renown, at his home in Ibadan. It was meant to be a casual, social visit but we brought a camera along anyway. Turned out to be a chat of over 3 hours.

We talked about everything: his ancestral roots in Ikere-Ekiti, the cultural values that shaped and continue to inspire him, solutions to the many problems facing Nigeria, how he almost lost his life to Hurricane Katrina, the intersections between poetry and music, the role of the artist in building an equitable society, etc. He talked freely, sang a lot (and, trust me, he has such a beautiful voice) and even danced!
