It's Episode 2 of The Short Version! This week, Colin tells Eleanor about Grady Hendrix's latest novel, and ode to metal, We Sold Our Souls. We follow the quest of Kris Pulaski as she goes up against dark forces to save mankind using the power of METAL! #podcast#novels#books
We have been grieving and mourning this loss, as many of you can understand. If everyone wants to send up a howl for Han Solo, I know he'd love it. @darkfrasier and @cauldroncookies will be coming back with new episodes in April! 3/3
The Short Version will be posting again soon.
Our recent hiatus was due the tragic, devastating loss of one of our best buddies, our mascot - Han Solo. He passed away suddenly two weeks ago at the age of 3. 1/2
Unbeknownst to us, Han Solo had a heart defect that caused fluid to form around his heart. He was just having too good a time on a walk and his precious heart gave out on him. We rushed him to the hospital, but there was nothing we could do. 2/3
This week on The Short Version, Eleanor tells Colin about the classic murder mystery "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie. Murder and mayhem abound as several strangers gather, each with a incriminating past, and begin to die one by one. #books#booklover#novels
Another book podcast we love: @TheOtherStories, which highlights works by emerging writers, especially those from groups that have been underrepresented in the fiction world. Go listen and subscribe!
I would be so grateful if you'd follow @version_short, for my new book podcast, The Short Version. We talk through books we love and love to hate. This week? "We Sold Our Souls" by Grady Hendrix. https://t.co/sgFDxZdjP5

All that said, Eleanor (@cauldroncookies) maintains her position that "Ethan Frome" is a deeply ridiculous story about a guy who couldn't keep his eyes off his wife's cousin, and ruined three lives because of it.
As @cauldroncookies mentions in her retelling of "Ethan Frome," Wharton rarely wrote about rural settings, making this story somewhat unique within the body of her work. She challenged common ideas of Gilded-Age aristocracy and the opulence of the society's upper crust.
"Ethan Frome" was written several years before "The Age of Innocence," which cemented Wharton's reputation as a literary great and for which she became the first female recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for literature.
