I just heard the tragic news that Alyn Wallace passed away. I didn't know him personally, but we'd both chatted about one day collaborating, and I was excited about that. As far as I'm concerned, Alyn was an institution when it came to night photography, and he was more than generous about sharing his passion and his knowledge.
I'm shocked and saddened to see someone so young and vibrant pass away. I always felt that he seemed like such a nice bloke when I watched his videos. It's sobering to think that we always take the presence of the people we admire for granted, like they'll always be there, and so will we. This news has made me take stock of that.
The world has been made a better place because of Alyn's creations and I'm grateful for what he brought to all of us both in terms of his artistic talent and his relentless work in the field of night photography education. I expect there are many people feeling the loss of his presence at this time, and my heart goes out to his loved ones and those closest to him.
Thanks for the inspiration, Alyn. I'll think of you when I look up at the stars.
RIP
