A charging bear. A 9mm pistol. An almost immediate stop.

When we’re talking about stopping a large charging animal that is an immediate lethal threat. Would I rather have a rifle? Absolutely. Given the choice, I’d take a full-auto GEN-12 with slugs.

But the bigger issue is this idea that the second someone enters bear country, they need to ditch the pistol they’ve spent thousands of rounds training with and grab some giant .500 S&W Magnum they barely shoot.

So your plan is to land one perfect shot under extreme stress with a massive-recoiling handgun you don’t actually train with?

Cool logic.

Effectiveness with a tool is just as important as the tool being effective.

Some of the best shooters I know who want more energy simply build a 10mm setup that mirrors their normal 9mm carry gun. Same controls, similar presentation, familiar mechanics—just more energy on target.
