当初、『機動戦士Ζガンダム』の最終回は、カミーユが死ぬ結末になる可能性もあったそうですが、実際のテレビシリーズでは、カミーユは生き残ったものの精神を壊してしまうという、非常に重い結末を迎えました。

そして2005年の劇場版『機動戦士Ζガンダム A New Translation』では、テレビシリーズとはラストが大きく変わっています。

テレビシリーズでは、

「戦争という極限状態では、人間の心は壊れてしまう」

という悲劇が描かれていたのに対し、

劇場版では、

「それでも人間は、人との関わりによって壊れずに生きていける」

という方向へ、視線が変わったようにも見ることができます。

だからこそ、『閃光のハサウェイ』が原作通りのラストを迎えるのか、それとも村瀬監督によって劇場版独自の結末が描かれるのか、とても楽しみです。
