I have watched a lot of humanoids walk over the last years. In my honest assessment, this is one of the better gaits out there - and it is still our very early stage. Congrats Martin Riedmiller & team!
We decided showing the alpha platform unblurred for the first time. Until now we covered it in every clip, because it is an internal development mule and not the product. Generation 1 is progressing well and we are relaxed about showing what came before it.
And we simply grew fond of this machine. The boxy shape is the direct result of rapid prototyping that allowed for the record design and build time. Exactly that raw frame is what makes the contrast so striking once it starts moving. A boxy machine man with a very organic character.
Generation 1 gets unveiled early 2027. If you’ve build humanoids before or shipped hardware at scale, consider joining.
@Humanoidguide Please note that none of the data mentioned is correct. Size, weight, DoF of body and hands as well as price have not been communicated yet, since this robot wasn’t released. Also the image is a fantasy, as no full body views have been published. Kindly wait for the release.
@GOJO_CHAIN@WallStreetB0Ts The learning is guided by prior world understanding of the model, the approach combines learning in reality and simulation - and of course the robots have finished learning before they are deployed to production environments.
@jb_beyond Fear not, we make these safe, so all will need to make theirs safer than they are today. Raising the bar for good, so politicians won't have to.
