R100 million drug lab property forfeited to the State:
A Gauteng High Court has granted a preservation order allowing a property in Rietfontein, linked to a R100 million clandestine drug laboratory uncovered in November 2024, to be forfeited to the State.
The lab, where a Mexican national was arrested, was found to contain methamphetamine (crystal meth), drug manufacturing equipment and chemicals.
The operation was carried out by a multidisciplinary SAPS team following extensive surveillance.
The order also includes the forfeiture of R27,800 in cash seized during the raid.
The National Prosecuting Authority’s Asset Forfeiture Unit will sell the property, with the proceeds and cash paid into the Criminal Assets Recovery Account (CARA).
Acting National Police Commissioner Lt Gen Puleng Dimpane said the forfeiture sends a clear message that organised crime does not pay and reaffirmed SAPS’ commitment to dismantling drug syndicates and stripping criminals of their illicit assets.

Her bakery supplies fresh brown and white bread to tuckshops across Umlazi every day, with each loaf retailing at just R14.
She is supplying 600+ loaves of bread every single morning. Now she’s ready to expand into more townships and is looking for distributors and retail partners.
What we are learning through the Madlanga Commission is that the high crime rate, rampant lawlessness, wanton breakdown of the policing system, and the corruption of the justice system are not a mistake. These are planned & coordinated outcomes by a specific group of people who think themselves above the law.
Let me make a BOLD statement: “South Africa doesn't have a crime problem.
South Africa has a crime management problem.”
Ngibulaleni ke!
