‘Track Your Paws’ microchip database does not meet Defra Government standards and has been removed from the list of compliant databases. If your pet's details are registered with Track Your Paws, you should register with another database from the list.

The Pet Database Pet Theft and Abduction Report 2026.

Well done to Pet Database who has partnered with our Patron, Dr Daniel Allen, Senior Lecturer at Keele University, to create The Pet Database Pet Theft and Abduction Report 2026. The report follows the first full year since the introduction of the Pet Abduction Act 2024, and draws on Freedom of Information data from dozens of police forces across the UK.

Pet Database has created a microsite where readers can read the key findings from The Pet Database Pet Theft and Abduction Report 2026, as well as infographics.

Dr Daniel Allen reflects on his extensive report: “The report demonstrates that the introduction of the Pet Abduction Act 2024 has failed to stop the rise in pet theft across the UK, and that the pattern of low criminal charges creates minimal deterrence for offenders. While a step in the right direction, the new law has not yet translated into meaningful improvements in enforcement or criminal justice outcomes”.
