Frederick County’s @VFWPost3285 was named after John R. Webb, a county resident and private who died in action during World War I. As the son of a World War II combat veteran, I know the importance of supporting the more than 16,000 veterans living in Frederick County.

Elizabeth was still living there in 1920, but later remarried and died in 1934. She is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Today is John R. Webb day at our post. Our post is named after him.

Join us tonight around 7pm to read through the Frederick Post article that announced his passing back in 1918.

His final reburial was on Oct. 21, 1921, in Grave # 22, Row 7, Section F, in the same cemetery.

Before he left Frederick John married Elizabeth Louis Lee, who was born in 1898. They lived at 14 W. 7th St. Frederick, which may have been where Elizabeth’s parents lived.

Today, we had the honor of welcoming Congressman David Trone to John R. Webb VFW Post 3285. He presented us with a generous check for $1 million from Community Project Funding! This will go towards building our new Post Home for our veterans and community.
